Alright, so that you don't get TOO confused, this
walkthrough is written in the order I do it. It is, in my opinion,
the fastest way to get the job done right. There aren't any fancy
maps, or a scoreboard to tell you how many points you should have,
because the game always ends the same way (unless you die). Keep in
mind, you'll get your money's worth (I paid $5) if you don't use
this entire walkthrough and experiment yourself. However, even I
searched Google for a walkthrough because I got stuck in the desert
situation. So, with that in mind, and me with nothing better to do
at 6:13 on a Saturday evening, let's get started.
BTW: When I say, "Go left one screen", I
mean go to the screen left of the one you're at.
WIZARD'S HOUSE: I forgot his name, (Crispin?) even
though the NES is on right behind me emitting a buzzing sound I'm
too bored to turn around and find out. There's nothing to do here,
drink the water, maybe and talk to Cedric who's too busy (staring at
the viewer on the other side of the screen!). So just go down...
PATH and POISONOUS SNAKE: Go west!
MOPING MAN and CLEARING: There's the poor man...
sobbing over his lost wife (which is less than 50 feet away in the
form of a tree). Oh well, leave him to his depression; we've got a
castle to find! If you do feel like hearing his story, go ahead, but
this walkthrough is going straight to the hard part... keep walking
West (for those with a blank stare; it's to the left of the screen).
EASILY AMUSED BOY and FATHER: Here is a little boy
jerking his marionette up and down and his father sitting nearby. Keep walkin west.
ANT HILL: Yeah, it's a hill... with ants. Cool
theme. Keep walking west... and ignore Cedric's sissiness.
DESERT (Part One): Aha! Good ol' sand. You are
alone out here (or so it seems)... go down one screen then go left
until you come across an Oasis. Drink its water.
DESERT (Part Two): Now go left one screen, then go
down. Pick up the boot. Then go down again and drink up!
DESERT (Part Three): Go back up to the shoe, and
keep walking up until you get to the rocky cliff.
PAUSE AND READ!: Unpause
the game, walk left, and then pause it quickly. See that rock? The
one above the puddle? Get behind it; that is, get on its right side
and stay there. If you did so correctly, the Arabian guy won't see
you. If you did incorrectly, he'll impale you with his sword and you
start at the beginning... let's unpause it and do that shall we?
DESERT (Part Four): Drink from the puddle. Now go
left one screen, and go down until you come across an Oasis. Drink
from the lake.
DESERT (Part Five): Go down 2 screens and to the
left. Drink from that bowl by the sleeping guy. Then go into the
tent on the right. Take the wand (be careful not to step on
anything), and leave. Go back to the Oasis (right one, up two).
Drink and return to the doorway (right one, and up until there).
DESERT (Part Six): Bang wand on door. Go inside
and pause...
Alright, see things? Yeahhhh.... okay, get ready
to act quickly... after you unpause, grab the bag on your left and
that tiny white thing to the left of it. And get out ASAP.
DESERT (Part Seven): Go down and right until you
come to the Wagon with a man in front. Give the coin to the man, and
walk right on in. Here's the entire plot of the game....
WAGON: Alright, save the game (SELECT, press the
M, SAVE, FILE, SAVE). Everything from here on out is really easy.
The only way to die from here to the mountains is to be really
stupid. For instance, you don't walk into the snake, you don't bug
the bear, you don't drink ocean water, you don't use your brass
bottle on yourself, and you don't walk into the witch’s forest
without your locket on! That and you don't bug those damned Swiss
guys runnin' the Inn. Let's go on, shall we? Walk south until you
come across that stupid bear.
BEAR: Pick up the stick on the ground (it kinda
sticks out, don't it yuk yuk yuk), and walk north.
ANTS: Throw the stick to the dog (quick li'l
devil), and the ants will brown nose you. Walk South then East.
INN: Search the haystack. Get a Needle. Walk North, East, East,
South (I'll explain later), East.
TOWN: Go into the second shop from the left.
CLOTHING STORE: Give the needle to the Clerk, take
your vest and leave.
TOWN: Take the dime shining on the ground. Search
the Barrel next to it to retrieve a fish (someone's been shootin
fish in a barrel). Save your game. Go west; west, and immediately
pause...
BAKERY: Alright, in a second, after you unpause
the game, Tom and Jerry (a mouse and a cat) are going to come
running at you from the left side of the screen, this is why you
didn't go through this screen earlier (I told you I'd explain). You
need to quickly get that old boot out of your inventory and throw it
at the cat (something you can only do in an RPG :). Go inside the
bakery after the mouse thanks you. Buy a pie with the dime (God, I
wish I could) from the
fat Chef. Go outside, and go West, West and...
BEAR and the BEES: Throw the fish at the bear
(Hey, it's better than a boot), grab your honeycomb and SAVE! Walk
East, East, North, North.... go inside the forest.
FOREST: Put your locket on under your shirt, and
go east. Put the bottle in front of the Witch (I like talking to her
first). Go into her House and loot the place. You should get a
spinning wheel from the drawer, a key from on top of the lamp and
three diamonds. Go to the tree with a door on it (be careful not to
fall!) and unlock it with the key. Take the heart and go south. Go
West following the path until you come to a spot with eyes looking
at your from behind the bushes...
ESCAPE: Use your Honeycomb with the eyes and then
use all three diamonds with the eyes. Follow the elf, and use the
escape route. Enjoy the show!
FOREST ENTRANCE: Go West.
WEEPING WILLOW: Give the Heart to the Tree (the
poor sap). Take her Harp (for a chuckle, try taking it before she
returns to her old self, if that didn't make you smile, try drinking
the water. it won't kill you, but I like what he notices). Go South
EASILY AMUSED BOY and FATHER: Give the Spinning
wheel to the old man, and take the boy's Marionette (yoink). Head
into the town.
TOWN: Go to the first shop from the left.
Give the old man the shoes. Take his hammer. Leave. Go into the
toyshop on the far right. Give the Marionette to the old man, and
take the sled. Head to the Inn.
INN: Go inside, walk up to the men at the
counter and wait to be freed by the mouse. Take the rope, and use your
hammer on the door's lock. Go on in. Take the leg of lamb from the
cupboard and use the door on your
left to leave. For kicks, save your game and go back in the Inn. Go
back to the Wagon.
WAGON: Take the tambourine, head to the
Intersection with the snake.
SNAKE and PATH: Use the tambourine with the snake.
Head East.
SNOW: Put on your vest and eat the Lamb. Follow
the path until you come to the ledge and the thingy sticking out...
you'll know when you get there. Use the rope with the rocky thing,
NOT THE BRANCH! Climb on up.
CLIFF: Use ONLY the TOP PILLARS (and the last
bottom one)! And
head across. Go East.
WHEN LASSIE GOES BAD: Use the sled on the hill and
follow the dog. Go East.
ICE QUEEN: Give the Leg of Lamb to the Eagle. Go
inside. Listen (read, whatever) to her speech, then use the Harp
ASAP.
SNOWMAN: Head North (don't fall!) and throw the
pie at the snowman (how ironic). Use the hammer on the Icicles in
the center and go back to the wolf.
KIDNAPPING: Walk right until you get kidnapped by
the eagle (not the
Eagle, but an Eagle nonetheless). Grab the necklace on the nest
quickly and just wait for the (other) Eagle to rescue you.
BEACH: Grab that iron stick (it's long and... well
it's the only thing on the ground that looks like a stick!), and
walk north to the boat.
BOAT: Put the clump of wax in the boat (it's
because there's a hole in the boat that you don't find out about it
until you go sailing, lol), and go out to sea!
SEA: Go down one screen and head all the way East
until you get to an island.
HARPEES: Quick! Before they screw you! Play the
harp! Pick up the fishhook (it has a reflective thingy on it to
stand out). Go west, pick up Cedric. Now pick up the seashell and
get in the boat.
SEA: Head all the way West until you get to a
beach house.
BEACH HOUSE: Ring the bell, after the old man
comes out, give him the shell... sit back and watch (read, whatever)
CASTLE DOCKS: Pick up the fish on the floor
(eeeww), and walk inside.
STATUE ROOM: Use the crystal on the dragon statue's eyes
("Must.... put... crystal.... in... eyes.... AAAaaahhhh!) and
proceed forward. Save your game. Walk left and up AND DON'T FALL! I
use the "Walk-where-I-click" option instead (SELECT and
choose the picture of the guy walking).
ENTRANCE: Use the iron bar on the grate. Go
inside....
MAZE: um... a-heh-heh. Yeah... um... you know how
to find your way out of a maze? Run your hand along the wall and
stick to it.... if a wall doesn't get you anywhere and you could've
sworn you're going over stuff you've been through, choose another
wall. If you run into a door, keep searching... if you run into a
monster, use the tambourine and take his hairpin. THEN find the
door. Use the pin to unlock the door, and walk inside.
I highly recommend you save your game here (for
your sake, not for mine, hell, you get to reread my literature :D)
*** note
that Mordack can appear anytime at anywhere in these parts, so if he
does you have to start where you last saved. It's frustrating
because he makes random appearances. The chances of him coming into
the room that you're in are 1/5 every 20 seconds; so act quickly!***
MORDACK'S HOUSE: Walk up the stairs and grab the
bag of peas on the shelf to the left (the only time you'll ever
catch me telling someone to grab a bag of peas). Go through the
doorway.
KITCHEN: Give the Necklace to the Princess (she
may not look like one now, but hey, they all look like that
in England!.... ow! No tomatoes!), and save your game. Walk through
the door on the right.
HALLWAY: Wait for about three seconds. If nothing
happens, walk back through the door again and reenter. If there's a
cat, go back, if there's an alien get captured (trust me).
PRISON: No sex and free food here... well, there's
actually food; Use the fishhook in the mouse hole. (You'll receive
cheese; "Hey that's mine! I saved yer life ya dingy
chicken!") Follow the princess through the maze. Go back to
that doorway where you saw the alien.
HALLWAY: Go back and forth until he arrives again.
When he does, throw the bag of peas at him, and continue going back
and forth until a cat is there. Throw the fish to the cat, then use
the empty sack (from which you got after throwing the peas at the
alien) on him (you have been sacked). Save your game. Go through the
doorway on the right.
DINING ROOM: Go through the doorway on the left
(the lower one).
STAIRCASE: Go on up.
HALLWAY: To the left.
BEDROOM: Down.
LIBRARY: Read that book under the lampshade and
wait for a while (now's a good time to save). When Mordack appears
and goes to bed, go into the bedroom (don't get any ideas, I bet if
I didn't type that you wouldn't have thought of it, oh well).
BEDROOM: Take that wand (yoink)! And walk right
into the hallway.
HALLWAY: Keep going right into the laboratory.
LAB: Go up the staircase.
MACHINE: Use the old wand on the machine. Use
Mordack's wand on the machine. Save your game. Use the cheese on the
machine and watch sparks fly. When it's done, you're either lucky or
not. I usually get bad luck and Mordack appears after it's done
charging then he kills me (God, just think of Cedric, waiting out
there forever). If you're lucky... (*whew*), grab the wand on the
right.....
FIGHT:
Use the wand on the bat, and choose the lower right spell (Tiger).
Then use the wand on the Dragon and choose the upper right spell
(Rabbit... I can't make it out either ~_~). Then use the wand on the
snake and choose the upper left spell (Wombat? Looks like a rabbit
^_^). Then use the wand on the fire and choose the lower left spell
(Rain cloud!). Enjoy the ending!
